Living in an HOA community sounds like a dream…

Beautiful neighborhood, close-knit community, well-maintained yards…

Sounds great, right?

Well, not always.

In fact, one of the most common challenges of living in an HOA home is how restrictive it can be — mandatory maintenance, high landscaping expectations, poor communication, or consistent noise complaints from neighbors.

In other words… it’s not always as dreamy as it sounds.

So what can you do if you’re living in an HOA community that you don’t like living in?

The best thing you can do is be forward and honest with the HOA board about problems you’re experiencing. Most people are reasonable and will listen to your concerns. Plus, a little bit of context can go a long way.

If you’re still having a lot of uncomfortable disagreements with your HOA community, then you might consider selling the home and moving to a new neighborhood.
